How to increase the maximum number of connections per IPLast Modified: Jan 12, 2018, 4:36 pm

Update: Jan 2018

new pure-ftpd new installs now have a config file at:

/etc/pure-ftpd.conf

Changes can be added there.

If you're running pure-ftpd, the old per-IP limit was set to 4.
This is controlled in the pure-ftpd boot script:
CentOS/Debian:

/etc/init.d/pure-ftpd

FreeBSD:

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/pure-ftpd

In the OPTIONS variable, there should be a setting similar to:

-C 4

change the 4 to a higher number like 15, save/exist, then restart pure-ftpd.

The new default value in the pure-ftpd boot scripts is set to 15 (as of May 2013

For systemd bootup, like CentOS 7 or Debian 8, you'd edit:

/usr/libexec/pureftpd_startscript

but make the same changes.
